Roblox Sues Banned Content Creators For $1.6 Million For “Terrorist Threats” And Other Crimes

Roblox App

Roblox are suing one of their former content creators for $1.6 million for leading a “cybermob” and posting “terrorist threats”, as well as harassing users, using slander and uploading inappropriate images to the platform, Polygon report.

Benjamin Robert Simon, who goes by the name “Ruben Sim”, is understandably banned from Roblox but created or stole an account to avoid action against him. His in-game violations included attempting to upload photos of Adolf Hitler, his own nudity, and sex games, as well as various actions to bypass chat filters. (like “fu cking”). Simon is also accused of engaging in “intentional harassment” of Roblox users and employees in the game and on social media.

The lawsuit also alleges that Simon said on his social media accounts that people shouldn’t attend the Roblox Developers Conference in San Francisco on a specific date earlier this year, alluding to the shooting at San Francisco. YouTube headquarters in 2018. He tweeted falsely. reported that there was a “notorious Muslim extremist” in the conference area and posted a video on YouTube titled “SOME PEOPLE JOIN ROBLOX NOW!” The event was locked down while police and security scoured the facility, actions that Roblox claims have cost them more than $50,000.

You can read the entire lawsuit here, which lists more cases of Simon’s misconduct than we would have room to write in one article. Suffice it to say, I don’t think anyone can disagree with the actions the Roblox corporation has taken to hit this guy for all he’s worth, and more. And, future note for any other developers facing a nagging harasser they want to kick off their platform or leave their community permanently: here’s how do it, through the court system, not by make a takedown request under the DMCA.
